Ways to Give and Get Involved

Join us in keeping Newark's history alive!

Thank you for your interest in supporting the Newark Historical Society! There has never been a more exciting time to get involved. We've been busy behind the scenes this year, re-organizing our collections, fine-tuning our goals and celebrating our achievements.

The board of directors is poised and ready to take the historical society to the next level, but we need your help to do it.  Within the next 5 years, we hope to achieve the following goals:

  • Update collections management systems
  • Expand museum hours
  • Establish a digital media library to improve access to our collection of historical books, documents and photographs
  • Foster an engaged community of active members who share our passion for Newark history
  • Recruit and energize a new generation of volunteers to help us achieve all these goals!

If this sounds like something you can get excited about, here are a the ways you can help us support our mission:

Become a Member
By becoming a member of the Newark Historical Society, you are sharing your belief that preserving our history matters. You help sustain the museum, our collections and our shared history. Volunteer
The Newark Historical Society Museum is an entirely volunteer-run organization. We have volunteer opportunities for talents of every kind. From museum hosts and special event planners to researchers and collections specialists, we have something for everyone who is interested in keeping Newark's history alive. No previous experience is necessary. Donate
The Newark Historical Society relies exclusively on donations and the occasional grant to keep our doors open to all. Your financial contribution will help us to develop new exhibits and events, care for collections and pay for projects, such as this website. We are a registered non-profit, so donations are tax-deductible as charitable contributions to the extent allowed by law.

Contribute to Our Collections
Thanks to the generosity of local citizens, descendants of residents and other donors, the Newark Historical Society has built a diverse collection of museum and library materials consisting of artifacts, books, documents, newspapers, photographs and more. There are, however, still holes in our collection and many stories to be told, so we welcome gifts of objects that help us achieve our mission of preserving  and sharing Newark's history. Please click the link above to find out how to submit an item to be considered for our collection.

Become a Business Partner
Whether your business has 5 or 5,000 employees, the Newark Historical Society would love to partner with you! There are many sponsorship opportunities and benefits for local businesses. We'd love to work with you to customize a sponsorship opportunity that aligns your company's interests with our mission objectives. Click the link above to find out more.
